Your books

Scanning, finding the books you scanned, and taking a copy with you.

Why isn't my scan finding all my books?

Most missed books come down to the photo. For the best results:

  • Use good, even light. Avoid glare on glossy covers and strong shadows.
  • Hold steady. If we warn that the photo looks blurry, retake it.
  • Fit one shelf or stack per photo, close enough that the titles are readable.
  • For a book we keep missing, photograph its barcode on its own. The ISBN is the most reliable way to find it.

I scanned on my phone and signed in somewhere else. Where are my books?

They're not lost. Books you scan before signing in are saved to the browser you scanned with. They move into your account once that browser is connected to it.

  • You scanned by pointing your phone at the QR code on your computer: sign in on that computer. If you're asked to add your phone's books, say yes. If you skipped that and the books still aren't there, go to Settings → Connected Devices and choose Add devices.
  • You opened TroveScore directly on your phone: open it again on that phone, in the same browser, and sign in with the same Google or Apple account. The books move into your account and show up everywhere you're signed in.

Until you sign in, clearing that browser's data or scanning in a private window can lose those books. Signing in is what makes them permanent.

How do I download a list of my books?

Open your Trove, tap the gear icon at the top, and choose Download trove. You can pick Excel or CSV and include books you've already sold or donated. The file includes your own take on each book: reading status, when you finished it, your rating, and your review. You need to be signed in to download.

Account & privacy

What others can see, and how to leave.

How do I make my Showcase private or hide a book?

  • Hide the whole page: go to Settings → Showcase and turn off Make showcase public. Visitors to your link will no longer see your books, and they stay in your Trove.
  • Hide one book: open it in your Trove and switch off Shown on Showcase.

Only books you've marked as reading or read, rated, or reviewed ever appear on a Showcase. Borrowed library books start hidden.

Can't sign in? Use the contact form, pick the category for not being able to sign in, and include the email address you sign in with (the one on your Google or Apple account). Include your Showcase link too.

How do I delete my account?

Sign in and go to Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate. Here's what gets deleted and what's kept.

Delete button not showing? You still have live eBay listings. We can't delete an account while it has items for sale, because buyers could still purchase them. End them from your Trove or on eBay, then come back.

Can't sign in? Use the contact form, pick the category for not being able to sign in, and include the email address you sign in with (the one on your Google or Apple account). We will process your request within 30 days.

Selling on eBay

Only if you list books on eBay through TroveScore.

TroveScore turned on Business Policies in my eBay account. Can I turn it off?

Yes. The first time you list through TroveScore, we turn on eBay's business policies (reusable payment, postage, and returns settings) for your account. eBay requires them for listings created by apps like ours. It's free and doesn't change your fees.

To turn it off, find the business policies setting in your eBay account's selling preferences and opt out.

The catch: your next listing through TroveScore turns it back on. eBay offers no other way for us to create the listing. If you want it off for good, list directly on eBay instead.

I moved, or switched to an eBay account in another country. What do I do?

We record your eBay country when you connect your account, and we don't see later changes. So after any change, go to Settings → Social Accounts, disconnect, and reconnect. Not every country is supported yet. If yours isn't, listings use US settings.

  • Same eBay account, new address: just reconnect. Your existing listings aren't affected, and you can still end them from TroveScore.
  • A different eBay account: first end your listings from the old account on eBay. TroveScore holds one eBay connection at a time. Once you connect the new account, we can no longer reach listings made under the old one.
